PDP Crisis: BoT Members To Hold Key Meeting With Wike Today

As part of its reconciliation mission, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will today meet with the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, over the lingering crisis rocking the party.

The BoT’s meeting with Wike in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, comes after the advisory body met with the PDP presidential candidate in Abuja, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday. The BoT has also met with the vice presidential candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Amidst the ongoing crisis in the opposition party, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Board of Trustees has given reasons why that the party cannot allow its top positions to be dominated by Northerners.

Senator Walid Jibrin in an earlier statement had observed that the party’s presidential candidate, National Chairman and BoT Chairman were all Northerners.

In another statement on Tuesday, he said his stance has not changed despite criticism, noting that the PDP is a “national party that caters for all Nigerians.”

Shell Accused Of Discharging Toxic Chemicals In N’Delta

An Environmentalist, and Chairman, Board of trustees, Centre for Environmental Preservation and Development (CEPAD), Mr Furoebi Akene, has attributed the dead fishes littering the Niger Delta coastline to the discharge of toxic chemicals from Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)’s operations at Forcados oil export terminal.

Akene who spoke with DAILY POST on Sunday in Yenagoa reacted to NOSDRA’s position that it found no oil spills linking the massive death of fishes floating near the Atlantic coastline in Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom.

Former Lagos Commissioner of Police and member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Board of Trustees, Abubakar Tsav, has decried the statement issued by some of the forum members on President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, saying the board was not aware of the statement.

Tsav told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Makurdi, that the statement was not a “unanimous decision of entire NEF membership.”
