Iraq PM Says Will Resign After Bloody Protests

Iraq’s embattled premier announced Friday he would resign in keeping with the wishes of the country’s top cleric, as renewed violence added to a soaring death toll in two months of anti-government protests.

Adel Abdel Mahdi’s written statement was greeted with cheers and blaring music across Baghdad’s iconic Tahrir Square, where demonstrators have massed since early October against a ruling class deemed corrupt and in hock to foreign powers.

Bloody Clash Over Motor Park Leadership In Ebonyi

Palpable tension has engulfed Agubia Ikwo community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following a bloody clash by youths over control of one of the biggest motor parks in the area.

Daily Sun gathered that one of the youths involved in the clash was reportedly killed on Tuesday during a reprisal while no fewer than 15 were seriously injured.

Some of those injured were being treated at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Ado-Ekiti—Scores of supporters of All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party sustained various degree of injuries during a bloody clash at a campaign rally in Omuo Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti East Local government area of Ekiti State. The incident was said to have occurred when members of the APC were said to be holding a joint rally for the senatorial candidate in Ekiti South District, Prince Dayo Adeyeye and the House of Representatives candidate in Ekiti South Federal Constituency, Femi Bamisile, Monday evening, when the suspected PDP thugs invaded the rally and launched attacks on them.
