NERC: Why Some Nigerians Don’t Pay Electricity Bills

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given reasons why some Nigerians don’t pay the 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) for power supplied to them.

The NERC, in its latest quarterly review of the sector’s activities for the second quarter of 2019, stated that the Discos have largely failed to provide meters to their customers which would have enabled them to account for their electricity consumption patterns.

President Buhari Signs Five Bills Passed By 8th Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed five bills passed by the 8th National Assembly into law, Mr Umar Yakubu, Senior Special Assistant to the president on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives) has said.

Yakubu who made the announcement at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja said that the Acts were to ensure good governance in the country.

The bills include the Obafemi Awolowo University Transitional Amendment Act, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi Amendment Act, the University of Maiduguri Amendment Act, the National Fertiliser Quality Control Act and the Nigerian Council of Food Science and Technology Establishment Act.
