Baba Ijebu, Bet9Ja Pay ₦1billion To FG To Settle Debt

Two frontline lottery operators in Nigeria, Premier Lotto a.k.a Baba Ijebu and KC Gaming, a.k.a Bet9ja have remitted ₦1billion to the Federal Government.

A breakdown of the payments shows that Premier Lotto (Baba Ijebu) remitted ₦833,333,494.58, while KC Gaming (Bet9ja) remitted ₦166,666,827.92, totalling ₦1billion.

According to the EFCC, which helped in collecting the money, the N1 billion was the arrears of debt the lotto companies the Nigerian treasury.

They were supposed to remit 20 per cent of their turnover to government through National Lottery Trust Fund, NLTF as required by law.

Bet9ja: Court jails man for gambling without paying

An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a 23-year-old painter, Oluwatobi Olaore, to 14 days’ imprisonment for playing N7,000 lotto (bet9ja) and refusing to pay.

The Magistrate, Mr Sam Obaleye, sentenced the painter who pleaded guilty to the charge.

Obaleye, however, gave the painter  an option of N20, 000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Adejoke Adebari, told the court that the painter  committed the offence on April 27 at 8:30p.m. at Ijaye area of Abeokuta.
