The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has urged traditional rulers to fast and pray for peace in the state ahead of the Edo governorship election in 2020.

The traditional ruler gave the charge at the quarterly meeting of the Edo Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs in Benin on Saturday, NAN reports.

The monarch said the prayers and fasting should go along with offering of sacrifice to Almighty God and their ancestors.

Arik Air Donates To IDP In Benin

Arik Air has donated some relief items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp, Uhogua, Benin City, Edo State, to enable them to celebrate the Christmas. The airline said the initiative was part of its corporate social responsibility.

The federal government has accused the Republic of Benin of being recalcitrant in its importation of prohibited goods for ultimate dumping into Nigeria’s market in spite of the partial border closure order.

The Federal Government on Monday said seizures made by security agents at the country’s land borders indicated that the republics of Benin and Niger were not addressing issues that led to the border closure.

The Edo Police Command has denied reports of a robbery attempts at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Benin.

DCP Ayoola Ajala, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, said that it was not true that there was a robbery attempt at the bank.
