Edo State Head Of Service Kidnapped By Gunmen, Driver Killed

The insecurity situation in Nigeria is worsening and crime rate reaching a new height in recent time. Benin City, the Edo State capital, on Saturday evening witnessed the kidnapping of the states Head of Service, Mr Anthony Okungbowa while his driver was killed.

It was gathered that Okungbowa, who was appointed HOS by Governor Godwin Obaseki in April, was kidnapped along Oza Road in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.

This comes after prisoners were seen scaling the White House Prison fence and coming out through the gate, in Sapele road area of the ancient city.

Reports making the rounds suggest that hoodlums or #ENDSARS protesters were responsible for their release. Nigerians think this is an inside connivance on the part of prison officials, as an effort for the government to release military men to restore order in the country and stop the protest forcefully.

Ize-Iyamu Calls In Sick, Absent From ₦700m Fraud Trial

A Federal High Court sitting in Benin City has adjourned the trial of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, along with others, due to his ill-health.

Others are ex-Edo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Dan Orbih; his successor, Tony Aziegbemi; ex-Edo Deputy Governor, Lucky Imasuen, and Efe Erimuoghae-Anthony.

Ize-Iyamu is the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Edo State.

The court had on June 18, validated the corruption charges against the defendants, and, therefore, adjourned the case until July 7 for hearing.

All five are being tried on money laundering charges filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).…

Tell Obaseki To Restore My Hotel – Kabaka To Court

Embattled Tony Kabaka Adun, whose T. Latifah Hotel and Suites was demolished last Wednesday in Benin Cityβ€Ž by Edo State Government, has asked an Edo State High Court to order the Government to rebuild his hotel.

Kabaka had earlier filed a suit stopping the demolition of the hotel and the court was set to deliver judgment when the state government pull down the hotel.
