2023: INEC Speaks On When Registration For PVC Will Begin

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Mr Mutiu Agboke, has said the continuous voters’ registration would soon commence.

Agboke made the disclosure at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday in Iseyin.

He said the exercise would capture new registrants and those that have issues with their PVCs such as replacement of lost or defaced cards and transfers from former locations.

The REC said that no fewer than 700,000 PVCs were still in the custody of the commission.

He implored leaders of political parties to start sensitising their members and supporters on the need

Resident Doctors Begin Indefinite Strike

Residents doctors at University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospitals, Akure in Ondo State, on Friday, embarked on an indefinite strike over unpaid salaries.

The angry doctors gathered at the hospital complex, displaying placards with various inscriptions showing their grievances.

Some of the inscriptions read: “we are asking for what we have worked for”, “a hungry doctor is a danger to the society”, ” our salary is our right, not a gift”, “pls pay our arrears”, “Arakunrin Akeredolu does not owe salary, why is UNIMEDTHC different? ”

Air Peace To Begin Kano-Owerri Direct Flight November 26

Air Peace Airlines said it will commence Kano-Owerri-Kano direct flight from November 26, 2019. The airline’s Corporate Communications Executive, Stanley Olisa, who disclosed this in a statement said the flight days would be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

He said the airline has provided  direct connectivity between the two destinations and passengers won’t have to travel from Kano to Lagos or Abuja to connect a flight to Owerri.

Works Begin On 3 Flyovers In Port Harcourt

Construction Works have commenced at the sites of the three flyovers flagged off by the Rivers State Government.

The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Mr Rabiu Ladodo, has given assurance that the force will arrest and prosecute the killers of a bus driver in the state, Chinedu Ogoke.

The commissioner gave the assurance in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri on Monday.

Ogoke was shot and killed by gunmen last week at a popular “Malaysian market” in Obowo Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo on Oct. 9.

The gunmen stormed the “Malaysian market” located in Umungwa, Obowo LGA and dispossessed traders of their belongings, including money.

US President Donald Trump said in a tweet Monday night that US immigration agents are planning to make mass arrests starting “next week,” an apparent reference to a plan in preparation for months that aims to round up thousands of migrant parents and children in a blitz operation across major US cities.

Social media giants, Facebook will once again begin paying people to monitor their phone’s activities through a new application called Study.

Study will monitor which other applications are installed on a person’s phone, the time spent on them, your location, additional data, among other things. Facebook says it won’t see any specific content including messages, passwords, and websites you visit, thereby adhering to a somewhat reasonable privacy rule.

The launch comes several months after the company’s last user-tracking research application, Facebook Research, was shut down due to a pair of controversies.
