The Bayelsa State Government yesterday maintained that those who were bent on taking the outgoing Governor of the state, Seriake Dickson, to the cleaners, since the loss of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last governorship election, would regret it after his exit.

Gunmen ambushed and killed four soldiers and a civilian in Nigeria’s oil-rich south, local sources said Wednesday, breaking months of uneasy calm after unrest over the distribution of the country’s oil revenues and forcing a military retaliation.

Armed men ambushed the military contingent in the Ekeremor waterways area of Bayelsa State as they returned from an assignment in the Letugbene community on Monday.

Bayelsa: Gov. Dickson Orders Payment Of New Minimum Wage

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has approved the payment of the ₦30,000 new National Minimum Wage to workers in the state with effect from January 2020.

Governor Dickson gave the approval on Friday during a meeting with the leadership of organised labour at the Government House, Yenagoa.

The governor directed the State’s financial team to follow through the template set by the National Wages and Income Commission in implementing the new salary level.

People of Bayelsa State celebrated the Christmas and New Year festivities in darkness as the power outage occasioned by the altercation between Ijaw youths and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) entered day 10 thursday.

Rivers Wins Soku Oil Wells From Bayelsa

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the transfer of Soku oil field from Bayelsa State to its rightful owner, Rivers State.

Delivering judgment in a suit instituted by Rivers State, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ordered the National Boundary Commission to rectify the error in its 11th edition of Administrative Map, which designated San Bartholomew River as the boundary between the two states, instead of River Santa Barbara.

Three policemen, four personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and one maintenance staff attached to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Bayelsa State Government House, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown were on Thursday arrest over alleged involvement in the theft of ₦ 3.5 million from the office.
