Elections Are Not A Life-Or-Death Matter, Says Gov. Mohammed

Political parties, candidates, and supporters have been urged not to see elections for elective seats as a life-or-death situation by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

Mohammed also urged parties and supporters to act in accordance with the game’s regulations in his message of goodwill delivered on Saturday in honour of Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Anniversary.

He urged them to keep in mind that only God can grant power to anybody He chooses at a given time.

In a fresh development, the Bauchi Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda has ordered an immediate probe into the setting ablaze of a suspected thief of a motorcycle at Chinade community in Katagum Local Government Area of the state.

A middle-aged man, whose identity had not been determined, was attacked by a mob who beat him to a pulp and later set him ablaze for alleged theft of a motorcycle on Sunday.

Sanda stated this in a statement signed by the Spokesman of the command, SP Ahmed Wakili, made available to newsmen in Bauchi.

The Bauchi State government, on Monday, announced the sudden resignation of Alhaji Abubakar Kari, Chief of Staff to Gov. Bala Mohammed.

Dr. Ladan Salihu has been appointed as replacement.

Until his recent appointment, Salihu, a one time Director-General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), was the Commissioner for Information in the state.

The Bauchi State Government has approved the payment of ₦30,000 new minimum wage for employees in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by Alhaji Mohammed Baba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to newsmen in on Wednesday in Bauchi.

A committee set up by the Bauchi State Government yesterday said that it had discovered 20 dead pensioners, who are still on the government’s payroll.

Secretary of the committee set up to verify workers and pensioners without Bank Verification Numbers (BVN), Alhaji Ishiaka Tijjani, disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi.

The police in Bauchi said on Thursday that 25 persons were burnt to death in an auto crash along Bauchi- Ningi Road in Bauchi State.
