Bandits Kill Two, Kidnap Over 100 Passengers In Sokoto

Gun-wielding men, suspected to be bandits yesterday blocked two major roads in Sokoto, killed two persons, and abducted over 100 commuters in two separate attacks.

Africa Today News, New York gathered that the armed men ambushed some major roads in the state, including the Sokoto-Gusau road where, at least, 60 road users were whisked away to an unknown destination on Sunday evening.

Niger Gov, Sani-Bello Signs Law To Hang Bandits

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello yesterday signed the death penalty by hanging for cattle rustlers, bandits, kidnappers, and informants into law in the State.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the Niger State House of Assembly had on July 1, passed into law a bill prescribing death penalty for informants, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers in the State.

Bello said the Kidnapping and cattle rustling special provisions law of 2016 was amended to provide for the punishment of informants and all those involved in the aiding and abetting of kidnapping and cattle rustling in the state.

Bandits Raid Kaduna Hospital, Abduct Babies

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped babies from the residential quarters of the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Centre in Zaria, Kaduna State.

At least twelve persons have been killed by armed bandits in Maikujera in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State after a violent attack in the area. 

In a press statement sighted by Africa Daily News yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said the incident happened around 4:30 pm on Thursday last week.

The statement noted that twelve people were killed by the notorious armed bandits.

Panic As Gunmen Attack Zaria Again, Abduct Residents

Bandits have again attacked Kofar Gayan and Kofar Kona areas of Zaria and abducted some residents.

The attack was carried out last weekend by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State  Command, who confirmed the incident, said he was trying to gather details about the attack.

Bandits Kill Nine, Rustle 500 Cattle In Sokoto Village

Gunmen suspected to be bandits yesterday attacked Rarah village of Rabbah Local Government in Sokoto State killing over 9 people while also leaving many others injured.

A source told newsmen on  Friday that the assailants also rustled away about 500 cows.

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, has come out to state that bandits may not drop their arms if their safety is not guaranteed.

The Nigeria Police have revealed that some members of the business community were sponsoring bandits.

This was contained in a statement on Sunday by Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba.

“Unfortunately, investigation also reveals that some citizens, especially those within the business community, give tacit support to the terror groups”, he declared.

“They do this by deliberately doing businesses with them through the supply of essential goods, illicit drugs and other services.”
