The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has explained why the cost of conducting elections in Nigeria was relatively expensive. 

He made this known on Friday when he appeared at the ‘The Editors’ Forum’ in Lagos which was organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors at De Rembrandt Hotel, Awolowo Way Ikeja.

He listed some of the reasons as ‘cost of logistics, highly-secured ballot papers, allowances for personnel and others.’

Barely four hours after the commencement of the gubernatorial and Kogi West Senatorial rerun election, gunmen have invaded some polling units in Lokoja and snatched some ballot boxes.

APC Raises Alarm Over Printing Of Ballot Papers

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign organisation, has raised the alarm over alleged printing of ballot papers and other sensitive materials by the Bayelsa State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Government House.

Poll: Two killed in Ondo over alleged ballot box snatching

Two persons were reportedly killed on Saturday in political mayhem at Oba-Akoko,headquarters of Akoko Southwest local government area of Ondo state.

Sources alleged that some hoodlums had stormed the community to snatch ballot boxes which led to youths rampage where properties worth millions of naira destroyed including police station and police vehicles.

BREAKING: Ballot box snatcher shot dead in Ukanafun

Soldiers monitoring the conduct of election in Ukanafun have killed a young man as he made away with ballot box at a polling unit in Ikot Udo Ossiom village, Ukanafun council of Akwa Ibom state.

The incident occurred few hours ago throw the area into mourning.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the young man had attempted to snatch the ballot in the morning immediately it arrived from INEC but was prevented by soldiers guiding the polling unit.

Ballot box snatchers’ll be dealt with – Chief of Army Staff

MILITARY officers with divided loyalty were yesterday ordered to resign.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai said such officers should quit not later than tomorrow.
