UN, EU Decry Boko Haram, ISWAP Attacks Against Aid Workers

The European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) expressed concerns, in a joint press conference on Friday, about the recent upsurge in attacks against aid workers and civilians by Boko Haram and ISWAP in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

They reiterated their commitment to work better together and strengthen efforts to provide life-saving assistance to those affected by more than ten years of crisis in the states and to increase support to people rebuilding their lives and communities.

Fani-Kayode Attacks Tinubu Over Statement On Amotekun

Nigeria’s former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s, statement on the establishment of the Southwest security outfit, Amotekun.

Tinubu had on Wednesday called for private discussion between the Governors of the South-west and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami, over Amotekun.

He said the foundation of the country had not been put at risk with the South-west regional security outfit launched by the governors of the zone in a bid to confront the insecurity in their respective states.

Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka on Tuesday condemned remark by Balarabe Musa, former governor of Old Kaduna State on the establishment of Amotekun by Southwest governors.

United States House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi called Facebook a “shameful” company on Thursday.

Iran Reveals Why It Didn’t Kill US Soldiers In Attacks

Iran has claimed that the Wednesday’s missile attacks on American bases in Iraq were not targeted to kill any soldier.

A senior Iranian commander, Amirali Hajizadeh, said the attacks in Iraq did not aim to kill American soldiers but sought to damage Washington’s “military machine.”
