The Government of Ondo State has provided an undisclosed amount of money to the victims and deceased families of the June 5 attack at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

Mr. Wale Akinterinwa who is the Chairman of the donation management committee led other members to Owo on Tuesday on behalf of the State government. He said that the move was in fulfillment of Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s promise to give support to all the victims of the attack.

Against the backdrop of Tuesday night’s attack on Kuje prisons, the United States Embassy in Nigeria has warned its citizens in the country against travelling on the airport road in Abuja as well as about 19 states in Nigeria.

The warning is coming on the heels of the attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Kuje Prison who also freed some inmates on Tuesday night.

Suspected jihadists have killed no fewer than 10 police officers overnight in an attack in northern Burkina Faso near the border with Niger, security sources confirmed on Saturday.

‘An outlying gendarmerie post in Seytenga in Seno province was targeted by terrorists last night,’ a source said.

‘About 10 gendarmes (died), four others were wounded and there was major material damage,’ the source revealed, adding that the toll was provisional.

No fewer than 40 people mostly civilian volunteers with the army, have been confirmed dead following a suspected jihadist attack in Burkina Faso, local sources and security officials said on Monday.

In the northern region of Sahel, around 25 people were killed in two assaults on Saturday, including 13 members of the VDP volunteers, a leader of the force told reporters.

In Kompienga, near Burkina’s southeastern border with Togo and Benin, about 15 civilians were killed on Saturday when their convoy was attacked while under VDP escort, a security source in the region disclosed.

Suspected armed men have attacked, matcheted and injured some Policemen and carted away their arms in Asaba, the Capital of Delta State, Nigeria.

Gunmen have killed no fewer than 19 people in Tawari community in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State, burning buildings, including the palace of the king of the community.
