ASUU Battles Kano University Magt Over Fees Increment

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, chapter, has faulted the recent increase of students’ registration fees.

It described the decision as a clear act of insensitivity.

Besides, the academic union insisted that such decision by the Vice-chancellor and the school’s management was not in tandem with the new Kano State policy on Free and Compulsory Education.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday asked the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris to resign over gross incompetence.

Sexual Harassment In Schools: ASUU Counsels Lawmakers

Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), on Monday, advocated the review of existing laws on sexual harassment in tertiary institutions.

He made the call at a hearing in Abuja on “Sexual Harassment of Students in Tertiary Educational Institution Prohibition Bill”, organised by Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters chaired by Sen. Bamidele Opeyemi.

Ogunyemi declared that ASUU was not in support of sexual harassment in any form.

IPPIS : We’ll Stop Work If FG Stops Our Salary

National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Biodun Ogunyemi, has said the union would stop work should the Federal Government halt the payment of salaries of  members over issues pertaining to the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

Ogunyemi stated this in Nsukka, yesterday, at a press briefing after addressing ASUU members at the  University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

I Will Not Reverse IPPIS Policy – Buhari Tells Lecturers

President Muhammadu Buhari says the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) cannot be reversed.

The President who emphasised that the policy has come to stay, said the IPPS was a move to block the loopholes in public finances, eliminate fraud and retrieve funds.
