ASUU: Fresh Hopes As FG Reviews ‘No-Work No-Pay’ Policy

The federal government has taken a major step toward finding solutions to its ongoing faceoff with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) by setting up a tactical committee to review the no-work no-pay policy which the striking lecturers have kicked against.

The lecturers’ union has continued to maintain that its members have to be fully paid for the period they were on strike before they return to work.

The President of the Academic Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Emmanuel Osodeke has made some open revealations that some of the unions had not asked for some of the students’ help before it embarked on a strike.

While reacting to the massive backlash on them as a result of the bad turn their last meeting with the Federal Government took, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has come out to give a reason why the meeting with the Federal Government of Nigeria had ended in a deadlock.

ASUU had also revealed that it ad rejected the Federal Government’s offer because it is “miserable”.

ASUU Strike: We’ve Taken Voluntary Conciliations – Ngige Reveals

In lieu of the ongoing strike by the ASUU, Chris Ngige who is the Minister of Labour and Employment, has revealed that a measure of voluntary conciliation has been adopted to ensure a quick resolution of the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Minister, Ngige had also made this disclosure of his plans on Tuesday at a three-day capacity-building workshop on International Labour Standards and Dispute Resolution in Nigeria in Abuja.
