FG Ignores Senate, Begins Visa-On-Arrival Policy

Despite the objections raised by the Senate and reservations expressed by some Nigerians about its visa-on-arrival policy for Africans, the Federal Government has commenced the implementation
of the new visa regime.
Findings revealed that the visa-
on-arrival policy commenced on January 1, as
planned. Also, the Nigeria Immigration Service
has deployed a new border management security
system in four airports across the country.

Immigration Speaks On Visa On Arrival Policy, Amnesty

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Saturday gave an update on the visa on arrival policy.

Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede, spoke on Saturday at the Immigration Training School, Kano State.

The CGI said the policy was an opportunity for Africans that were coming for legitimate businesses to thrive in countries other than their own.

He added that it was a means of integration and cementing African brotherhood and breaking the barriers of free movement among Africans.

Babandede assured Nigerians that the policy would be handled professionally through best global practices without compromising national security.

Jonathan Decries Late Arrival Of Election Materials

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed disappointment over the late arrival of election materials to his polling unit, 39, in Otuoke, ward 13 in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

Nigeria Working To Adopt Visa-On-Arrival Policy – Onyeama

Nigeria and the Republic of Namibia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas that will be beneficial to both countries in particular and the African continent.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Ms. Sarah Sanda.

Onyeama said that the agreement was reached at a meeting in Windhoek with Namibian Ministers led by the country’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mrs. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

He said that the agreed mechanism for achieving this was through a meeting of the Joint Commission which will be held in 2020.
