Police Rescue Abducted ACP, Arrest Two Suspects

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF)  on Sunday’s night announced that it has rescued abducted an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Musa Rabo who was kidnapped over the weekend. 
According to the post on  Twitter handle of the force @Police NG at 11:05 pm on Sunday night, Rabo was rescued on unhurt.

The post read:” Musa Rabo abducted over the weekend was today 20th October 2019 rescued unhurt”. The officer was successfully rescued this evening by a combined team of Police operatives from Kaduna, Niger and Zone 7 Command Headquarters Abuja, backed-up by members of the elite Special Forces of the

Oyo State: Police Arrest, Detain NANS Leader, Olajuwon

Chairman of Oyo State National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asubiojo Olajuwon, has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Olajuwon was said to have been arrested inside the premises of Federal Co-operative College, Eleiyele, at the weekend while holding a meeting with other executive members of the association.

One of his aides, who spoke with The Guardian, alleged that some people, who claimed to be close to Governor Seyi Makinde, led police to the school where he was holding the meeting and was subsequently arrested.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has mandated a branch of his organisation in Japan to ascertain that the alleged impostor, Jubril Al-Sudani who is believed to be President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, “is arrested and handed over to the authorities when he sets foot on Japanese soil.”

Four men have been arrested in the northern Nigerian city of Kano for allegedly carrying out a false marriage on Facebook, which the Islamic enforcement agency said had mocked Islam.Kano is among 12 northern Nigeria states where Sharia law operates and the Hisbah enforcement agency said Wednesday the wedding was perceived to have made a mockery of the institute of marriage.

“We arrested four men for organising a mock wedding on Facebook which has caused public outrage,” Hisbah’s chief Abba Sufi told AFP.

Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Onitsha, Anambra State, Paulinus Akpotobo, and another senior officer have been arrested by the Onitsha Police Area Command for allegedly strangling a colleague, Emeka Ojei, to death.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening.Sources close to FRSC said trouble started when the deceased threatened to write a petition of corrupt practice against one of the officers to FRSC zonal headquarters in Benin City, Edo State, an action that did not go down well with the affected officer.

The police in Lagos said it arrested three suspected traffic robbers in two separate operations around Ayobo/Ipaja areas of the state, less than 24 hours to Sallah holidays.

An Abuja- based pastor has been arrested for alleged involvement in employment scam.

The Pastor of Spirit Embassy church located in Gwagwalada area of Abuja, who was working with one Alhaji, claimed they had connection and could get interested job seekers employment into the Nigeria Immigration Service.

25-year-old Egbunu Vincent Onuche said he collected between N150, 000 to N300, 000 from 16 people who indicated interest in the employment.

The interested people, according to him, were church members, friends and family members.

Arrest of sex workers, criminalisation of poverty – NHRC

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has decried the recent arrest of sex workers and closure of brothels in Umuahia, the Abia capital, on the orders of the state government.

Ms Uche Nwokocha, the Coordinator of NHRC in Abia, described the action as as “the criminalisation of poverty” by the government and its agencies.

Nwokocha said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia on Wednesday.

Peru’s former president Alan Garcia died in hospital on Wednesday after shooting himself in the head at his home as police were about to arrest him in a sprawling corruption case. He was 69.

The health ministry said Garcia died at 10:05 am (1505 GMT) of “a massive cerebral hemorrhage from a gunshot wound and cardiorespiratory arrest.”

Garcia was resuscitated three times after suffering heart attacks while undergoing emergency surgery, before finally succumbing, Peru’s Health Minister Zulema Tomas said.
