Deborah’s Killing Sin Against God – Archbishop Of Canterbury

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby has reacted to the killing of Deborah Yakubu, a Christian student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, condemning her killers and calling on authorities to measures in place to forestall future occurrences. 

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Welby described Deborah’s murder as a sin against God.

Recall that Deborah, a 200-level student, was gruesomely murdered by some students for alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammad.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Most Revd Justin Portal Welby has reacted to the killing of Lawan Andimi, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State by Boko Haram insurgents.

Andimi was abducted by Boko Haram when they attacked Michika on January 3.

Initially, he was declared missing but later appeared in a video released by Boko Haram, wherein he pleaded with authorities to secure his release.

The Anglican Archbishop of the Province of Enugu, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has condemned the killing of Rev. Lawan Andimi, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa.

Archbishop Of Lagos Raises Alarm Over Boko Haram

Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Rev. Alfred Martins, on Wednesday lamented that jihadist groups, Boko Haram, ISWAP and other terror gangs were holding Nigeria to ransom.

He appealed to the Federal Government to intensify its counter-offensive to crush the groups and restore normalcy to end fear among citizens.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has warned Boris Johnson and other MPs to avoid using inflammatory language – as the UK prepares for a general election.

Justin Welby said it was “extraordinarily dangerous for politicians to use careless comments” in a “polarised and volatile” society.

He told the Sunday Times that use of words like “traitor” and “fascist” had left MPs fearing for their lives.

The PM had a special responsibility to moderate his language, he added.
