The Federal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has approved the sum of ₦1.7 billion for the construction of jetty at the Bonny Island in Rivers.

Minister of State for Transportation Gbemisola Saraki made the disclosure while briefing State House correspondents on Wednesday after the FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“Today, the Ministry of Transportation presented a memo for the approval of award of contract for the construction of jetty at Bonny Island in Rivers State.

Owerri: Ihedioha Approves Rehabilitation Of 5 Roads

Imo Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has approved the rehabilitation of five major roads in the state, with failed sections totaling over 155km.

The approval was contained in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chibuike Onyeukwu and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Wednesday.

Onyeukwu listed the affected roads to include the failed section of the 52 km Owerri-Egbu-Mbaise-Obowo road, the failed section of Owerri-Njaba-Orlu 32km road and the Aboh-Itu Ezinihitte Mbaise 7.1km road.

Others are the failed section of Owerri-Amaraku-Anara–Onuimo-Umunna-Okigwe 51 km road and the Achingali-Onicha-Udo na Obizi 14 km road.

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved $200million to boost Nigeria’s electrification project, particularly the off-grid expansion being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA), has approved the amendment of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs law, paving way for the decentralisation of the Kano Emirate council.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of additional three universities in Imo.
The universities are the University of Science and Technology, Omuna Isiako, University of Creative Technology, Umuna and the University of Medical Sciences, Ogboko.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the award of N169.74 billion contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of ten roads across the country.

With the award, it is expected that 2,750 direct jobs will be generated with over 90 per cent to be taken up by Nigerian workers.
