Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has stated that Nigerian government has the capability to pay back loans collected for the construction of rail projects within the stipulated period of 20 years.

Amaechi Reacts To Order For Former Govs To Refund Pensions

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Thursday denied receiving pensions as the former governor of Rivers state.

“I have never requested for or collected one kobo as pension from R/State Govt,” Amaechi said on Twitter on Thursday

“If offered, I will politely decline & request that the money should be given to Rivers State pensioners.”

A federal high court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the federal government to recover pensions and allowances paid to former and serving ministers and senators that are ex-governors.

Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has said he does not owe anybody apology for citing the Federal University of Transportation in Daura.

Railway Wagon Assembly’ll Generate 5000 Jobs – Amaechi

Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has said that the railway wagon assembly plant under construction at Kajola in Ogun State, would generate about 5,000 jobs when completed.

The Minister said this at the weekend during the plant’s ground-breaking ceremony performed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the project site in Kajola.

Amaechi described the plant as one of the gains of the Federal Government’s partnership with the Chinese Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC) under the ongoing rail construction projects, particularly the contract for the supply of rolling stock for the Abuja-Kaduna, Warri-Itakpe and Lagos-Ibadan rail lines.

FG needs $45bn to build transportation system – Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said the federal government requires $45 billion to fix the country’s transportation infrastructure, adding that rail infrastructure is a capital intensive sector.

Explaining the amount spent so far on rail infrastructure in the country during an interview on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily yesterday, the minister revealed that this figure would be needed to solve the country’s “problem of transportation to a great extent.”
