A’Ibom Varsity Sacks 8 Lecturers For Alleged Sex Offence

The Akwa Ibom State University yesterday said it had terminated the appointments of eight lecturers for alleged involvement in sexual harassment and extortion.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Eno Ibanga, said this while briefing journalists on the activities lined up for the 4th and 5th combined convocation at the institution’s main campus in the Mkpat Enin Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

He said however that some of the cases were in court, adding that 10 students involved in cultism were also caught by the management of the institution.

The Port Harcourt zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has assured investors of Bluekey Investment Club across the Niger Delta of diligent investigation.

The Police in Niger have arrested five suspects for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery in Rafi and Mariga local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Usman Adamu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Thursday.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it is investigating an online report alleging the killing of two persons at Mabera Area of Sokoto Metropolis by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

No fewer than 70 officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have been arrested for alleged extortion during patrol and in the corps facilities, the Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi has said.

A Lagos State prosecutor, Y. A. Pitan, Wednesday said a former Super Eagles’ Captain, Augustine Jay-Jay Okocha, accused of income tax evasion since 2017, had finally settled with the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court on Friday admitted detained convener of Revolution Now Protest, Omoyele Sowore to bail in the sum of ₦100m.
Also admitted to bail in the sum of ₦50m is Sowore’s co-defendant, Olaleye Bakare, facing alleged Treasonable felony charges among others.

Imo State Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri has ordered former Governor Rochas Okorocha to appear before it on October 8, 2019, for alleged breach of public peace.
