Staff Raise Alarm As Provost Escapes With ₦19m Official Car

There is tension at the Federal College of Cooperative, Ibadan, over the alleged refusal of the immediate past Provost of the college, Mr Felix Ikechukwu Okafor, to hand over a ₦19m official car to in his possession to the institution.

THISDAY gathered from staff of the college that some of them are worried over the refusal of Mr Okafor to had over the keys of the car to the institution four months after his retirement.

Adamawa Gov Raises The Alarm Over Renewed B’Haram Attacks

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to revamp the security apparatus in the state in order to contain Boko Haram’s renewed barbaric onslaught on Adamawa communities.

Archbishop Of Lagos Raises Alarm Over Boko Haram

Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Rev. Alfred Martins, on Wednesday lamented that jihadist groups, Boko Haram, ISWAP and other terror gangs were holding Nigeria to ransom.

He appealed to the Federal Government to intensify its counter-offensive to crush the groups and restore normalcy to end fear among citizens.

NAN reports that Martins spoke at the celebration of the 53rd World Day of Peace at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos.

According to him, Nigeria’s security needs to be taken more seriously to crush Boko Haram, ISWAP, kidnappers and rogue herdsmen, who have made life unbearable for Nigerians.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has said that it has uncovered syndicated plots by certain elements to destabilise the country with protests at major Nigeria cities during the yuletide.

No Cause For Alarm In VAT hike – Tayo Bello

Despite widespread opposition that trailed the Federal Government’s proposed increase in the Value Added Tax (VAT) and its eventual approval by the National Assembly, an expert in Monetary and Development Economics, Dr Tayo Bello, says there should be no cause for alarm over the decision.

Acording to him, the action would not likely have significant negative effect on Nigerians.

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has declared that there is an attempt to silence the voice of Femi Falana, human rights lawyer.

On Wednesday, a group, Save Nigeria Movement, had asked Falana to stop intimidating security agencies.
