PDP Crisis: We Never Suspended Campaigns – Tambuwal

The Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation (PCO), AND Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has denied speculations that the organisation had to suspend its campaign to placate Wike. 

In a statement signed by his Media aide, Mohammed Bello, Tambuwal was quoted as saying on Thursday that to the contrary, the campaign train “is continuing, by the grace of God on Monday in Kaduna.’

The Police command in Uyo, Akwa Ibom on Sunday warned that the ban on masquerades parades is still in force in Akwa Ibom explaining why the decision was arrived at.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the primary election which purportedly produced former Senate Minority leader, Godswill Akpabio as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that Akpabio had last week stepped down for the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the party’s presidential primaries on Tuesday.

65,185 Persons Living With HIV/AIDs In Akwa Ibom – Survey

A survey conducted by a non-governmental organisation, Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV/AIDS Services, has indicated that about 65,185 persons in Akwa Ibom State are living with the disease.

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has approved the release of the 2019 promotion of 2,248 workers in the state.

Elder Effiong Essien, the State Head of Civil Service made this known at the official opening ceremony of a 5-Day Capacity Building Retreat for Officers on grade levels 13 to 17 in Uyo on Tuesday.

Akwa Ibom Issues Sack Threat To Striking Doctors, Nurses

The Akwa Ibom Government has warned striking health workers in the state that they risk being sacked if they do not resume work immediately.

Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Udoh gave the warning on Wednesday.

He said the strike embarked upon by the workers was ill-conceived, unnecessary and politically motivated.

The health workers declared a work boycott under the umbrella of Joint Health Workers Union (JOHESU).

Udoh said that the demand for payment of 50 per cent of basic salaries as hazard allowance in the prevailing harsh economic climate by JOHESU was unreasonable

We Will Not Shut Down Schools In Akwa Ibom – Governor

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State says his government would not close down public schools in the state out of fear of Coronavirus recently recorded in some parts of Nigeria.

He added that it was baseless to abruptly terminate academic activities since public schools would normally end their session Next week.

Prison Decongestion: 13 Inmates Freed In Akwa Ibom

About 13 inmates in the Akwa Ibom State Correctional Centre were on Monday, granted pardon by the Presidential Committee on Correctional Reforms and Decongestion, led by its Chairman, Justice Ishaq Bello.

Two out of the 13 were released based on their ill health, while 11 others convicted of minor offences got their freedom after the Akwa Ibom State government had paid for their option of fines.

Justice Bello, pronounced their release after the facility tour of the centre and going through their case files in Uyo.
