Nigerian Police AIG Akinmoyede Honours Imo SA Diaspora

The former Commissioner of Police in Imo State AIG Isaac O. Akinmoyede who has been redeployed to Zone 17, Akure, Ondo State, after his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) has bestowed an award of excellence on the Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Cllr Osakwe-Hibbert.

The duo have worked together on various projects in their different departments as the Honourable Councillor resumed her Special Adviser duties after she was appointed by Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The Nigeria National Industrial Court, sitting in Akure, Ondo State has reinstated 32 out of over 900 workers sacked by the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) in December last year.

According to report, the institution’s management had on December 5, 2019 erroneously sacked over 900 of its workforce for alleged certificate forgery, irregular appointment, and overage among other sundry allegations that contravened its conditions of service.

FUTA Suspends Final Year Student For Hacking Into Newspaper’s Website

The Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, has slammed an indefinite suspension on a final year student of the institution who hacked into the website of an online news publication, the Premium Times.

According to the institution, the student, Afolabi Emmanuel of the Department of Food Science and Technology was suspended on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by the university’s Deputy Director, Corporate Communications, Adegbenro Adebanjo, the act by the student constituted misconduct and misuse of University IT infrastructure.

Patient Who Fled Imo After Testing Positive For COVID-19 Caught In Ondo

A COVID-19 patient who refused to receive treatment after testing positive for the disease has been arrested at “Oja Oba” market in Akure, capital of Ondo state.

According to Wahab Adegbenro, commissioner for health, the patient, a female, tested positive for the virus in Imo state but escaped to Ondo.

Adegbenro said after her escape, both Imo and Ondo governments launched a manhunt and she was eventually found.

The commissioner said she was caught selling second hand wares inside the market.

Robbery Scare In Ondo As Banks Chase Out Customers

Residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital were on Wednesday thrown into panic following the rumour of an armed robbery attack at one of the old generation banks in the town.

According to the rumour, some robbers had stormed the Oke-Aro branch of First Bank which turned out to be false.

With the news filtering into town, banks located within the state capital chased out customers within the bank halls as they shut their gates.

A bursar attached to the Akure Anglican Diocese Secretariat, Alagbaka, Akure, has been reportedly killed.

The deceased, identified as Gabriel Abiodun, was shot dead yesterday by gunmen suspected to be robbers, who were said to have trailed him after leaving a new generation bank at Alagbaka.

An eyewitness, who was on the scene, said Abiodun was trailed from the bank by the three gunmen to the church where they rained bullets on him.
