The Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Mines, Steel Development and Metallurgy, has expressed grave concerns that the Ajaokuta Steel Company had been ‘left in deep slumber’ for several years without resuscitation, explaining that if things remain the way it is at the moment, that the facility would remain moribund for a long time.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, the committee’s chairman, Umar Tanko Al-Makura (APC, Nasarawa), pointed out that Ajaokuta would remain moribund without special funding to the solid mineral sector.
