Airtel Launches 0904 Number Series

Airtel Nigeria has added 0904 number series to its numbering range, following the approval of the industry regulator, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC). The telco said the new number series, which brings its growing numbering range scheme to nine, would throw up an amazing opportunity for more Nigerians to join the network with the largest and widest 4G coverage.

Aside the 0904 number range, Airtel currently has the following numbering series: 0802, 0808, 0708, 0812, 0701, 0902, 0907 and 0901.

NCC Grants Airtel Permission To Disconnect GLO Network

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has granted Airtel Networks Limited an approval to partially disconnect Globacom from its network.

“The Commission having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness determined that the affected operator does not have sufficient reason for non-payment of interconnect charges,” NCC spokesman Henry Nkemadu said in a statement.

“All subscribers are, therefore, requested to take notice that the Commission has approved the partial disconnection of Glomobile by Airtel in accordance with Section 100 of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 and the Guidelines and Procedure for Granting Approval to disconnect Telecommunication Operators.”

Bharti Airtel to pay Tanzania $26 million

India’s Bharti Airtel has agreed to pay 60 billion shillings ($26 million) over five years and cancel debt to resolve a dispute over ownership of its Airtel Tanzania unit, the Tanzanian government said on Monday.

Tanzania’s minister for foreign affairs and east Africa cooperation, Palamagamba Kabudi, announced the deal at a ceremony to receive a three-month batch of monthly payments worth 1 billion shillings each due from April this year.
