Plane Crashes With 11 People Onboard In Cameroon

A plane carrying 11 people crashed in a forest in central Cameroon on Wednesday, Africa Daily News, New York has gathered.

According to reports, a major storm hit Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, in the afternoon of Wednesday, causing the plane to lose signal after it took off from the city’s Nsimalen airport.

This was confirmed by Cameroon’s Transport Minister, Ernest Ngalle Bibehe confirmed in a statement that air traffic control lost contact with the plane.

The Airline Operators of Nigeria, (AON) have it has reneged on its the earlier decision to shut down flights beginning from Monday, May 9, calling off the suspension.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the AON had in a statement vowed to shut down operations following the high cost of aviation fuel.

In a statement by the president of the AON, Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina on Sunday, he announced that airlines would continue operations as usual.

Airline Operators, Insurers At Loggerheads Over Non-Payment

Controversy between consumers of insurance products and insurers over poor customer services has been a sore point of heated discussion in the indsustry over the years.

The situation appeared to have assumed a new twist recently following threats by Aircraft owners under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), to boycott local insurance companies to insure their aviation risks with foreign underwriters due to non-payment or delayed payment of claims by local insurers.

Crashed Ethiopian airline may gulp $60m insurance claims

Losses from Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines have been speculated to be between 50 million dollars and 60 million dollars, Willis Towers Watson (WTW) said.

The Insurance firm said this on Tuesday.

The aircraft heading to Nairobi crashed on March 10, after take-off from Addis Ababa, killing all 159 passengers on board including two Nigerians.
