Imo Police Beef Up Security Ahead Saturday’s Rerun

The Imo State Police Command has assured of its preparedness for Saturday’s election rerun in Okigwe North, Orlu Federal Constituency and Njaba State Assembly.

The new Imo Commissioner of Police, CP Mobolaji Olaniti Fafowora in his maiden press briefing yesterday, stated that the command will work in synergy with other security agencies including the DSS and the Civil Defense Corps to record a hitch free exercise.

CP Mobolaji gave this assurance while parading over 29 suspects at the command’s headquarters in Owerri yesterday.

The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, Thursday said she had directed the House Committee on Judiciary to start drafting articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

In her announcement Pelosi said she had found enough evidence that Trump had committed criminal offences strong enough to support his impeachment from office.

Global Passenger Traffic Rises By 3.4% Ahead Of Peak Season

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) yesterday announced global passenger traffic data for October 2019, showing that demand climbed 3.4 per cent compared to the year-ago period. This was a modest slowdown from 3.9 percent growth recorded in September, owing to softer traffic performance in domestic markets. October capacity increased by 2.2 per cent and load factor climbed 0.9 percentage point to 82.0 per cent, which was a record for October.

Venezuela Ex-Intel Chief Missing Ahead Of US Extradition

Venezuela’s former military intelligence chief has gone missing in Spain just days after a court-approved a request for his extradition to the United States on drug trafficking charges, police said Wednesday.

“They are currently looking for him,” said a spokeswoman for Spain’s national police, referring to General Hugo Armando Carvajal who served as intelligence chief under the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

Judicial sources said police had gone to Carvajal’s house in Madrid to arrest him after Friday’s court decision but could not find him.
