Zenith Bank Re-affirms Commitment To Sports In 2020

Zenith Bank on Monday restated its commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria with a pledge to maintain its leadership position in this direction.

The bank’s Group Managing Director, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, who stated this, stressed that in the New Year (2020), the outfit would continue in its great support for sports in the country.

Onyeagwu who laid more emphasis on the fact that the bank was proud of the role played in the development of sports in Nigeria over the years, especially in the year 2019.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday upheld the election of Emeka Ihedioha as Governor of Imo State.

The five-member panel in separate judgments dismissed the three appeals filed by the Action Alliance and its governorship candidate, Uche Nwosu, All Progressive Congress and its governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma and that of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Ifeanyi Ararume.

While that of the AA and APGA were dismissed in a unanimous judgment, that of APC was dismissed in a four-to-one split judgment.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday, dismissed the appeal filed by candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Great Ogboru against the election of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of Delta State.

A five man panel of the appellate court led by Justice Uzo Ndukwe-Anyanwu, dismissed the appeal on the grounds that it was “completely devoid of merit”.

The court accordingly upheld the decision of the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which affirmed the declaration of Okowa as lawful winner of the March 9 governorship election in Delta State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the five-man panel in two separate judgments, upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 9 poll and dismissed the appeal by governorship candidates of Labour Party (LP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD).

A Court of Appeal Court sitting in Owerri on Thursday upheld the election of Owelle Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as senator representing Imo West Senatorial District.

The Chairman of the panel, Justice R.A. Ada, said that the appeals by Senators Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Jones Onyereri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Okorocha lacked merit.

Ada however, reaffirmed the judgement of the State and National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Okorocha’s election, adding that it was in order.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna has upheld the election of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state.

The court, in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Olumuyiwa Aburu in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Isah Ashiru, affirmed the judgement of the election petition tribunal, which upheld el-Rufai as winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship election.

Following the merger between Access Bank Plc and Diamond Bank, one of the global rating agencies, Standard and Poor’s (S&P), Thursday announced that it has discontinued its ‘CCC+/C’ long- and short-term issuer credit ratings and its ‘ngBB/ngB’ Nigeria national scale ratings on Diamond Bank.
