Nigeria NUC: Nigeria Needs 300,000 Additional Doctors

National Universities Commission (NUC) yesterday decried the shortage of medical practitioners in the country, disclosing that Nigeria needs at least 300,000 additional qualified doctors to meet the standard set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The regulatory agency made the disclosure, even as Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, affirmed in Yenagoa that the vision of his government had always been to produce the highest number of qualified personnel in the country’s medical sector.

EFCC Recovers Additional ₦70m In Kwara

The Ilorin zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Wednesday disclosed that it has recovered additional Seventy Million Naira for the Kwara State government in its ongoing efforts to recover funds allegedly stolen by corrupt individuals.

The commission had on October 11, 2019, handed over the sum of N112m recovered to the state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in Ilorin.

A Kano State High Court on Thursday nullified the creation of four additional first-class emirates and their emirs by the state government.

The presiding judge, Justice Usman Na’Abba, said the law that provided for the creation of the emirate was not properly enacted, based on the provision of section 101 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

Justice Na’Abba said the Kano State House of Assembly had violated the provision of Section 101 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which allows the assembly to make laws.
