Adamawa Communal Crisis: 978 IDPs Storm Camp

Nearly a thousand people displaced by the communal crisis in Tigno, Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State have registered at the camp opened for them at the Kupte Primary School near Lafia town.

Two communities in Tigno had clashed last weekend, with residential buildings razed, making the dwellers homeless and prompting Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to direct the establishment of a temporary camp for them.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to revamp the security apparatus in the state in order to contain Boko Haram’s renewed barbaric onslaught on Adamawa communities.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on Thursday, responded to his Supreme Court victory, declaring that he would probe his predecessors and those who have administered the 21 local government areas.

Rapists In Adamawa To Get Special Treatment

The Adamawa State Government is to designate a court for the specific purpose of adjudicating over rape cases.

The government made the pronouncement Thursday against prevailing high number of rape incidents, most of them poorly prosecuted in the general courts.

The state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr Afraimu Jingi, who spoke on the matter to newsmen in his office at the state Secretariat in Yola, said the court to be designated would have personnel whose dedication would be to handle rape cases.\

The Federal Government has provided instructional materials to schools affected by insurgency in seven local government areas of Adamawa State. The beneficiaries are located in Madagali, Michika, Mubi North and South, Maiha, Hong and Gombi local government areas.

The Adamawa Government has commenced payment of ₦32,000 minimum wage to its workers.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that workers on grade level 01 to 07 who received their salaries with the minimum wage lauded Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for keeping to his promise of implementing the minimum wage in November.

DPO, Bizman Kidnapped In Adamawa

A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Mubi North, Adamawa State, Ahidjo Mohammed, was kidnapped by gunmen around 7pm on Tuesday. The officer was kidnapped while returning to Mubi from Yola, where his mother had been receiving medical attention.

The kidnappers are demanding N50million ransom. Similarly, another resident of Mubi, a trader, Alhaji Mahmudu Mbilla, from Mbilla village was also kidnapped on Monday night and the kidnappers are demanding N5million from the family of the victim. Adamawa Government Sacks Polytechnic Staff

Adamawa government on Tuesday issued sack letters to some academic and non-academic staff of the state polytechnic, employed from the year 2017 to 2019.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that those affected are over 300.

A letter to those affected, signed by the Acting Registrar of the polytechnic, Mrs Rebecca Kinjir, stated that the action was in compliance with the recommendation of the Visitation Panel to the institution, set up by Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri.

Adamawa: Gov Orders Payment Of Minimum Wage, Effective Nov.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has ordered the implementation of ₦30,000 new national Minimum Wage in the state.

The new wage takes effect from November, according to a statement by the Director Media and Communications, Solomon Kumangar.

The statement reads:

“Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has directed that payment of the new national minimum wage should commence from November, 2019.

“This order covers state civil servants as well as local government employees.”

Four days of uninterrupted rain has sacked at least 40 villages in five local government areas of Adamawa State, destroying valuables estimated in millions of naira.
