Kuje Prison Attack: US Raises Strong Alarm, Warns Citizens

Against the backdrop of Tuesday night’s attack on Kuje prisons, the United States Embassy in Nigeria has warned its citizens in the country against travelling on the airport road in Abuja as well as about 19 states in Nigeria.

The warning is coming on the heels of the attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Kuje Prison who also freed some inmates on Tuesday night.

Among the states are Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

Pandemonium As Bandits Attack, Bomb Kuje Prison, Abuja

Terrorists on Tuesday assaulted the prisons in Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory, and there was fear among the locals as they apparently abducted several prisoners from the correctional facility.

Residents raised concerns that the armed men bombed the jail facility.

Terrorists Invade Abuja Community, Kidnap 22 Persons

No fewer than 22 persons were kidnapped on Friday in a community within Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), following an attack by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen

Police authorities in the FCT who confirmed the attack to reporters revealed that the attack happened within Rafin Daji, a boundary community Between Niger State and the FCT.

The acting FCT police spokesman, Oduniyi Omotayo told reporters that the gunmen attacked the community at the time farmers were cultivating their farmland.

‘The farmers were on their farmland working when gunmen outnumbered and kidnapped them,’ the spokesperson wrote in a brief WhatsApp message.

A Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State chapter died on Thursday when a Toyota Sienna vehicle conveying members of the party from Abuja to Port Harcourt somersaulted severally in a road accident.

One of the occupants of the vehicle, Innocent Amadi who reportedly survived revealed this in an interview on Friday morning.

Long queues have been notably spotted in Abuja as most petrol stations have been shut down and put out of service following scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
