White House Berates Arizona’s Ruling On Abortion Ban

The White House on Sunday berated a court ruling in Arizona which has now imposed a near-complete ban on abortions in the southwestern US state describing it as ‘catastrophic, dangerous and unacceptable.’

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that on Friday, a judge in Arizona’s Pima County had in a ruling ruled stated that a stricter ban — first imposed in 1864, before Arizona was a state — must be enforced.

‘If this decision stands, health care providers would face imprisonment of up to five years for fulfilling their duty of care; survivors of rape and incest would be forced …

The government’s health department is instructed by Biden’s new directive to increase access to “medication abortion”—pills prescribed to end …

The woman, of Mexican descent, believes terminating a pregnancy will now become ever harder, although the liberal West Coast states of California, Oregon, and Washington jointly vowed to defend abortion rights.

The conservative-dominated court declared that individual states can now legalise or restrict the procedure on their own, overturning the historic ‘Roe v. Wade’ ruling from 1973 that established a woman’s right to an abortion.

‘The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,’ …

Pope condemns abortion as use of ‘paid killer’

Pope Francis reiterated Saturday that abortion is unacceptable, saying its use amounted to the hiring of a “paid killer.”

“Is it lawful to eliminate a human lift to resolve a problem? It is lawful to hire a paid killer to resolve a problem,” Francis asked during a conference at the Vatican on the use of abortion when the unborn child is found to have a serious illness.

“No human being can ever be incompatible with life,” he said, adding: “Every child is a gift that changes the history of a family… and this child needs to be welcomed, loved and
