e-Customs Concession Project: Court Halts FG’s Enforcements

As regards to the level of conflict in one of the Customs implementations projects, a Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained and stayed the Federal Government in Nigeria from enforcing any more directives to the very controversial Customs Modernisation Project, otherwise known as e-Custom which was executed by its agents on May 30, 2022.

The Nigerian Custom Service, Trade Modernisation Project limited, Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria limited and African Finance Corporation are some of the agents who allegedly executed the disputed concession project.

In a landmark ruling, a Federal High Court in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital has cleared the former President Goodluck Jonathan as being eligible to run for the 2023 Presidential contest.

Court Unfreezes Accounts Of End SARS Promoters

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the unfreezing of accounts belonging to some promoters of the End SARS protest.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, who gave the ruling on Wednesday, ordered all affected banks to ‘immediately defreeze the affected accounts of End SARS promoters.’

Justice Mohammed proceeded to strike out the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1384/2020 filed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Recall that the ex-parte order to freeze the accounts for 180 days was made on November 4, 2020.

Court Favours Suit Seeking Details Of CBN’s Dealings

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled in support for the prosecution of a suit seeking to compel the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and its Governor, Godwin Emefiele to make public details of some of the bank’s recent dealings.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, in a ruling, granted leave for an application for ‘judicial review vides an order of mandamus, compelling the 1st and 2nd respondents (the CBN Governor and the bank) to furnish all information’ on its expenditure as sought by a group, the Incorporated Trustees of Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative (ASRADI).
