Bolsonaro Appeal 27-year Sentence Filed Against Coup Conviction

Lawyers for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Monday submitted an 85-page appeal to the country’s Supreme Court seeking review of his 27-year prison sentence, handed down in September for his role in a failed coup attempt following his 2022 electoral defeat.
The appeal motion asks the Supreme Court to revisit aspects of Bolsonaro’s conviction, including the cumulative prison term, while not specifying the exact reduction while seeking “clarification or review of specific parts of the conviction.”
