Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have expressed doubts over the ability of security agents to protect members of the opposition during the 2023 general elections.

They said the violence that characterised Kogi and Bayelsa gubernatorial elections was a pointer to what lies ahead in 2023 when the country return to the poll.

Minority Leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, while briefing newsmen in Abuja, also called on the Inspector-General of Police to fish out culprits who burnt a PDP woman leader to death in Kogi State.

2023: Third Term Agenda Re-Emerges In Senate

The Senate has dismissed claims that it has introduced moves to elongate the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari. It said such claims were unfounded and untrue.

It said the hate speech Bill which is being tied to the move, is not meant to cage Nigerians and pave the way for President Buhari to run for another term in office.

2023: No Sign That APC, PDP Will Consider Igbo – Elliot Uko

President and Founder of Igbo Youth Movement (IYM), Elliot Ugochukwu Uko has said that there is no sign that Nigeria’s two big parties, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are seriously considering to present an Igbo as candidate in the 2023 presidential election.

2023: Count Igbo Out Of Nigeria If Chance Is Denied -Ezeife

Former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has threatened to back any option taken by Igbo people in 2023, including pulling out of Nigeria if they are denied the chance to produce Nigerian president in 2023.

2023: No Division Among Our Governors – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said there was no division among its governors over the 2023 presidential ticket.

National Publicity Secretary,  Kola Ologbondiyan,  at a press briefing in Abuja, yesterday,  dismissed media reports that the opposition party wanted to retain its presidential ticket in the North and South East as speculative.
