UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin on Monday disclosed that leagues across Europe were ready to return to action behind closed doors in a bid to limit the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

A former Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Mr. Wahidi Akanni said the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been unfair to Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles’ Head Coach.

According to Akanni, the public disclosure of terms and conditions of a possible renewal of Rohr’s contract by the NFF was unnecessary.

Earlier, NFF President Amaju Pinnick had said Rohr would be handed a new contract to sign if he agreed to the terms.

Akanni, an ex-international, said that making Rohr’s contract public as Pinnick did would only mean that the two parties had not been communicating effectively.

Dickson Etuhu Banned From Football Over Match-Fixing

Nigeria’s ex-international, Dickson Etuhu has been banned from football in Sweden for five years over match-fixing.

Etuhu, who had played Manchester City, Preston, Sunderland and Fulham, was banned after being found guilty.

In November the Nigeria international was found guilty of attempting to fix a match between IFK Gothenburg and AIK in 2017. Etuhu was fined and ordered to serve a period of probation but avoided a prison sentence, with his lawyers still planning to take his case to Sweden’s supreme court.

Norman Hunter, Leeds United great has died of Coronavirus at the 76.

Leeds United, in a statement on its website said they are devastated to learn of the passing of club icon Norman Hunter at the age of 76.

“Norman was taken to hospital last week after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and despite continuing to battle and the best efforts of NHS staff, he sadly lost his fight earlier this morning,” the club said.

Born on Friday 29th October 1943 in Eighton Banks, County Durham, Hunter left school at the age of 15 to become an electrical fitter.
