Bundesliga Returns Today, Timetable For Other Leagues

Football is back. The German Bundesliga this weekend becomes the first major European league to resume following the two-month coronavirus shutdown.

Also resuming is the 2nd Bundesliga.

Six  matches are slated for today at the elite German league.

Borussia Dortmund are hosting Schalke 04 at their Signal Iduna Park at 14:30.

Augsburg are also hosting Wolfsburg at the same time.

Three other matches  scheduled for the same time-belt are:

Fortuna Düsseldorf v  SC Paderborn 07,  RasenBallsport Leipzig v Freiburg and Hoffenheim v Hertha BSC.

Turkey has been rocked after the confessions of Bursa Yildirim Spor player Cevher Toktas came to light. The 32-year-old footballer admitted to killing his own son on 23 April with the boy apparently suffering from coronavirus.

 

Toktas’ son was taken to a hospital in Bursa being admitted with a high fever and symptoms relating to the Covid-19 virus. The player informed staff at the clinic that his son was having trouble breathing and a certificate confirming his death was issued hours later after medics failed to save the child’s life.

The Premier League said it will send warning to clubs at a meeting on Monday, not to vote against the season restarting at neutral venues, as it could cost them more than relegation.

Egyptian player Youssef Hossam has been banned from professional tennis for life for match-fixing.

The ban came two years after his brother was also permanently excluded from the sport on corruption charges.

A statement from the Tennis Integrity Unit issued Monday said the 21-year-old Youssef Hossam, provisionally suspended since May 2019, had been banned for life.

This followed his conviction on multiple match-fixing and associated corruption charges.

The punishment was imposed by Jane Mulcahy QC, a senior English lawyer, following a three-day disciplinary hearing in London in March.
