Card Readers’ configuration 100 percent completed says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC) has completed 100 percent the configuration of the Smart Cards Readers  (SCRs), which will be used for voters’ accreditation for elections on Saturday and March 9, its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said yesterday.

Yakubu, who stated this while updating the media and observers on the preparedness of the commission for the polls, said the deployment of voting materials to the 774 local government areas will be completed today.

The INEC boss added that the deployment began yesterday in 10 states.

He also acknowledged that there were report of missing materials in some states.

Falana urges International Community to sanction El-Rufai

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana, has disclosed that the actions of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, has confirmed that the general election will be a ‘do-or -die affair.’

Responding to the governor’s “body bag” threat, Falana said the prosecution of the governor will commence as soon as his tenure is over.

Ballot box snatchers’ll be dealt with – Chief of Army Staff

MILITARY officers with divided loyalty were yesterday ordered to resign.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai said such officers should quit not later than tomorrow.

Gen. Buratai spoke as the Army renewed its pledge to constituted authority, stressing that it will not disobey orders.
