President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he would want to be remembered as a leader who kept his word that elections in Nigeria must be free, fair and credible.

Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s spokesperson in a statement in Abuja, said President Buhari made this known he received Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State at his private residence in Daura, Katsina State, on Monday.

Masari was in Daura to formally inform the president of his election victory in March 9 Governorship poll.

INEC declares Ihedioha Imo governor-elect

Former Deputy Speaker and governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha has been declared the winner of the keenly contested Imo State governorship election by the State Returning Officer,  Prof. Francis Otunta.

Ihedioha polled a total number of 273404 to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Uche Nwosu.

The candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and All Progressives Congress (APC), Ifeanyi Araraume and Hope Uzodinma scored 114676 and 96458 votes respectively.

Police apprehend 105 election offenders in Imo

No fewer than 105 persons were at the weekend arrested in Imo for election-related offences during and after the gubernatorial and assembly polls in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, has disclosed.

Briefing reporters on the security situation in the state yesterday at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Owerri, the police chief stated that the culprits included thugs as well as fake police and military personnel in camouflage. Galadanchi also confirmed an early morning attack yesterday on a collation centre in Nwangele Local Council of the state where two INEC ad hoc workers were wounded

INEC suspends Nasarawa LG results indefinitely

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended indefinite collation of Nasarawa local government area, following criminal destruction of electoral materials by suspected thugs.
Results of 43 local council areas had already declared. Incumbent Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in 29 local government and Eng. Abba Kabiru Yusuf held firm in 14 local government areas declared so far.
With the inconclusive results, the PDP candidate maintain strong lead with a difference of 6,608 votes.

APGA wins 24 of 30 House of Assembly seats in Anambra

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won 26 of the 30 seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won six of the seats, leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties in the state without any seat.

The duo of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and the senator representing Anambra South zone and state Shairman, President Buhari Campaign Council, Senator Andy Uba, failed to win any seat for the APC.

APC calls for cancellation of Abia governorship election

Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) on Sunday called for the cancellation of the March 9th governorship election in the state.

APC said the call became necessary because of so many electoral anomalies including cases of snatching of ballot boxes, non use of Card Readers, thuggery and intimidation witnessed in so many LGAs in the state.

INEC declares APC’s Abdulrazaq winner of Kwara guber poll

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the All Progressives Congress has been officially declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Kwara State.

Abdulrazaq polled a total of 331,546 votes out of a total of 453, 433 votes. The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abdulrazaq Atunwa polled 114,754 votes.

9994 votes were rejected, the returning officer for the state Prof Sanusi Liman said on Sunday.

Abdulrazaq is now expected to succeed Abdulfattah Ahmed as the governor of the state on May 29.
