Trump announces exit of spokeswoman Sarah Sanders

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the surprise departure of his spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, after a combative tenure that saw her all-but kill off traditional White House briefings to journalists.

Sanders has been one of Trump’s most loyal foot soldiers, almost constantly at his side during his tumultuous two and a half years at the White House and during the campaign before.

Trump announced her exit in a tweet and did not name a replacement.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday demanded the release of its members allegedly arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday.The group, in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in Enugu yesterday, said that 122 of its members, including a three-year-old child, were arrested by the police and Department of State Services (DSS) officials during a peaceful gathering in the state.

A member of the Kenyan Parliament representing Wajir East, Rashid Kassim has been arrested hours after allegedly assaulting Wajir County Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi.

Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi was allegedly beaten up on Thursday morning by Wajir East MP Rashid Amin in the parliament building.

It is alleged that Gedi engaged him in a heated discussion before she was assaulted by the MP.

South Africa’s rand slipped on Thursday, as investors were unnerved by an investigation into a donation for President Cyril Ramaphosa’s 2017 campaign, leader of the governing African National Congress (ANC) party.
