DSS: No Surety Has Turned Up For Sowore

The Department of State Services (DSS) has said no person has turned up to take delivery of the Convener of #RevolutionNow, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, since a court order was received for his release.

The Public Relations’ Officer of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the clarification was necessary for reasons of accountability, adding that the service had received the court order for his release.

Personal physician to Late Chief MKO Abiola, Dr. Ore Falomo, is dead.

Falomo, a former Medical Director of Maryland Specialist Hospital, was said to have died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness.

Though no official statement has been issued on his death, some leaders of pan Yoruba group, Afenifere, have reacted to his death.

Chief Ayo Adebanjo described him as a progressive, nationalist, patriot and successful medical practitioner.

Adebanjo said Falomo fought for democratic ideals and was loyal to the struggle.

Appeal Court Affirms Sanwo-Olu’s Election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Saturday, upheld the election of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the five-man panel in two separate judgments, upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 9 poll and dismissed the appeal by governorship candidates of Labour Party (LP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD).

$750m World Bank Grant

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, will chair the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) committee which will interact with relevant government agencies and prepare modalities for accessing a $750 million World Bank grant. Obaseki who disclosed this on arrival at the Benin Airport after series of meetings in Abuja, said the $750 million grant had been approved, adding that the disbursement would commence soon. Imo Suspends Taxes, Levies From Commercial Drivers

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has ordered the immediate suspension of daily tolls, tickets and taxes from all commercial drivers in the state until further notice.
This followed complaints of incessant harassment and extortion of commercial vehicle operators by alleged agents of the Imo State government.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the governor on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu in Owerri, yesterday, the decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting held on November 6, 2019, following a motion by the Imo State of Internal Revenue Service to that effect.
