The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned health workers in Cross River State not to demand money from parents during immunisation of children against measles.

UNICEF Consultant in the state, Iyabo Ajibola, who handed down the warning, yesterday during the commencement of measles vaccination second dose immunisation in Calabar South, said it is not acceptable that health workers demand money because the Federal Government, UNICEF and other partners have made vaccines available free of charge.

Noise Pollution: Lagos State Seals 8 Mosques And Churches

As Lagos State joined other countries of the world to commemorate the 2019 United Nations International Day of Tolerance, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, (LASEPA) embarked on a clampdown of some religious outlets comprising of mosques and churches across different areas of the State for causing noise pollution and disruption of peace within their vicinity.

Taraba Governorship: A.Court Upholds Re-Election Of Ishaku

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday upheld the return of Darius Ishaku as Governor of Taraba.

The court also dismissed the appeal by the All Progressive Congress (APC) for being incompetent and lacking in merit.

The APC approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the declaration of Ishaku as the winner of the March 9, governorship election.

The Senate has dismissed claims that it has introduced moves to elongate the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari. It said such claims were unfounded and untrue.

It said the hate speech Bill which is being tied to the move, is not meant to cage Nigerians and pave the way for President Buhari to run for another term in office.

Chile’s President Condemns Police Violence After Unrest

President Sebastian Pinera condemned on Sunday for the first time what he called abuses committed by police in dealing with four weeks of violent unrest that have rocked Chile.

“There was excessive use of force. Abuses and crimes were committed, and the rights of all were not respected,” the president said in a speech to the nation as it marked a month of turmoil that has left 22 people dead and more than 2,000 injured.

Boeing Expects 737 MAX To Return To Service January

The US aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, has said while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and international aviation regulators would determine the timing of certification and return to service of 737 Max, the company continues to target FAA certification of the updated flight control software by the end of this quarter.

Boeing, said it was possible that it could resume deliveries of the 737 MAX in December, subject to when the FAA issues an Airworthiness Directive for the aircraft.
