Liam Hemsworth Could Face Fine In Miley Cyrus Divorce Case

Liam Hemsworth’s divorce plans might be catching fire.

This week, an attorney for the Aussie actor, 29, was given notice by a Los Angeles superior court that Hemsworth’s divorce case is “not complete,” according to E! News, despite his having filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus in August.

The notice instructed the “Catching Fire” star to send documents to his ex, 27, and file paperwork about the documents with the court if he hopes to move ahead with the case.

Though a status conference is set for Jan. 21, Hemsworth won’t have to be in court if he files

  • Recommends structural redesign to save APC

A former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha saturday said that Igbo presidency was not possible without support of the north, saying Igbo alone could not make themselves the President of Nigeria in 2023.

He made the remarks at a session with journalists yesterday in Abuja, where he expressed concern about the …

Lessons From Kalu’s Conviction

The conviction, at the weekend, of a former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has thrown up different issues, including how he conducted himself throughout the trial as partly responsible for the harsh decision of the court. Davidson Iriekpen and Kingsley Nwezeh writes

It is no longer news that a former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, was last Thursday convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison by Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos over N7.65billion fraud.

What is, however, news is the revelation that the judge might have been angered to descend …

Much Ado About Constituency Projects

The idea of constituency projects was initially novel. It was conceived and designed to confer both the political and development advantage on the legislators, whose primary responsibility is to make laws for the growth and the overall good of the country.

But over time, the Nigerian factor set in and the idea ran into multiple hitches, although not solely a fault of the lawmakers, whose priority it is to identify what projects to be sited where. The discontent was basically that funds released were either not commensurate with identified projects or that there was no proof at all that the …

Even then, two days after our inauguration, we proceeded on a short recess to enable the leadership and the bureaucracy carry out some housekeeping, especially the allocation of offices to all Senators. We resumed duty on 2 July and were scheduled to embark on …

Honour Well-Deserved For An Illustrious Ikwerre Son

Just imagine how Nelson Mandela, the great African legend felt with accolades and honour bestowed on him from different parts of the planet. Beyond this word. How about the legendary wordsmith and Playwright, Wole Soyinka when he received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986? He must have felt like a 7-footer! Honour. It is interesting to note that the word now needs a qualifier to ensure its full meaning is not lost, or misconstrued.

Albeit, the word is amazing and elastic. It always finds a way to ensure people can recognise and celebrate it deservedly. It is a …

Musk hugged his lawyer on hearing the verdict, telling reporters afterwards: “My faith in humanity has been restored.”

PG&E Agrees To $13.5 Billion Payout For California Fires

California’s Pacific Gas and Electric will pay $13.5 billion to settle lawsuits over its role in a series of wildfires that killed scores of people and destroyed thousands of homes, the utility giant said Friday.

Faulty PG&E powerlines were blamed for sparking last year’s so-called Camp Fire in northern California — the deadliest in the state’s history — that left 86 people dead.

Outdated facilities including vulnerable wooden poles and failure to deforest land surrounding high-voltage transmission lines were blamed for the inferno, prompting accusations the San Francisco-based firm had put profit before safety.

The company filed for bankruptcy …

US Resumes Talks With Taliban In Doha

Washington resumed talks with the Taliban in Qatar Saturday, both sides said, three months after President Donald Trump abruptly halted diplomatic efforts that could end America’s longest war.

In September, the United States and the Taliban had appeared on the verge of signing a deal that would have seen Washington begin withdrawing thousands of troops in return for security guarantees.

It was also expected to pave the way towards direct talks between the Taliban and the government in Kabul and, ultimately, a possible peace agreement after more than 18 years of war.

But that same month, Trump abruptly called …
