IMF And Ukraine Reach Tentative $5.5bn Aid Deal

The International Monetary Fund said Saturday it had reached a “staff-level” agreement with Ukraine on a new $5.5 billion, three-year aid program for the war-scarred country.

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said she was “pleased to note that IMF staff has reached agreement with the authorities” on the deal, adding it was “subject to IMF management approval.”

Georgieva said she spoke by telephone on Saturday to President Volodymyr Zelensky and commended him on “impressive progress” on reforms and “sound economic policies.”

NY: 54Yr Old Falls From Six-Storey Building In Chinatown.

A 54-year-old man who witnesses said was taking a smoke break died Saturday in a fall from a six-story building in Manhattan’s Chinatown, police said.

Police were called to the rear of the building on Eldridge St. near Hester St. about 9:15 a.m. where they found the victim sprawled on the ground.

A woman drunkenly tumbled onto subway tracks and was fatally struck by a train in Brooklyn early Sunday, despite her friend’s best efforts to save her, cops said.

The 30-year-old victim fell off the Broadway Junction A/C train platform around 12:20 a.m., according to police. She tumbled between two subway cars on a Manhattan-bound A train as it began to roll away from the station, said MTA spokesman Shams Tarek.

A substitute teacher at Public School 321 in Park Slope ruined Santa and the tooth fairy in one fell swoop while doing some age-inappropriate myth-busting during a lesson on “convincing,” angry parents told News 12 Brooklyn.
