Bolivia To Hold Presidential Vote May 3: Electoral Tribunal

Bolivians will choose a new president May 3, more than six months after a disputed election sparked violent street protests and the resignation of Evo Morales.

Interim leader Jeanine Anez has been overseeing a caretaker government since then, after Morales fled the country for Mexico.

The new presidential election will be “the first Sunday of May, I can let you know that much,” said the vice president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Oscar Hassenteufel.

Once complete, the electoral schedule will include dates for registration of candidates, the campaign timeframe, rules on advertising, and rules on a potential second round.

Edo: Obaseki Clashes With Oshiomhole Over Godfatherism

Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, has vowed to end godfatherism in the state’s politics.

Obaseki stated this while hosting ward leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oredo local government area of the state.

According to him, he came into office to fight godfatherism, but is facing resistance from former Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, who he claims is “reneging on the mandate” .

The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has disclosed why the All Progressives Congress, APC, never thought of presenting a third term agenda to President Muhammadu Buhari.

CAC: Nigerian Govt Appoints New Acting Registrar-General

The Federal Government on Tuesday appointed Hajiya Saratu Shafii as the Acting Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Mr. Moses Adaguusu, the Head of Public Affairs of the commission made this known in a statement in Abuja.

Adaguusu said Shafii’s appointment was conveyed to CAC through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

He said that until her appointment, Shafii was a Director, Incorporated Trustees Department of the commission.

The new acting registrar-general is a graduate of Law from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.

Civil War: Militia Leader Sentenced To 20yrs In Prison

Charles Ble-Goude, an ally of former Cote d’Ivoire President Laurent Gbagbo, has been sentenced in absentia to 20 years in prison by a court in Abidjan, for his role in the civil war.

The civil war followed the 2010 presidential election, his lawyers said.

The Writers Against AIDS has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the financial transactions of state agencies for the control of HIV/AIDS mostly headed by governors’ wives.

Pastor Tunde Bakare Meets Buhari In Aso Rock

The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Monday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Bakare was Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 general election.

However, in September this year, he declared that he would succeed Buhari as Nigeria’s next president.

No official reason was given for the meeting and the cleric also did not speak to newsmen.
