Falana: I Know An Ex-Governor Who Had A Killer Squad

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, said on Monday that he knew a former governor in one of the South-West states who had a killer squad that helped him to eliminate his political opponents.

Falana, who spoke at the University of Ibadan, said the former governor’s killer squad was headed by a police officer, who was the Chief Security Officer to the then-governor.

He said one of those killed by the killer squad was “a World Bank expert,” but he did not name the former governor in question.

President Muhammadu Buhari has officially presented to the public the Nigeria Visa Policy (NVP) for the year 2020.

He presented the document at the State House in Abuja, on Tuesday. The document is a revised version.

Buhari To Embark On A 20-day Vacation Trip To The UK

President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja Wednesday on a 20-day vacation trip to UK, The Presidency said on Tuesday.

The President is expected to leave Nigeria on Wednesday after which he will depart to the UK after the 20-day vacation for Riyadh the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend the third Summit meeting.

Federal Government has insisted that there is no going back on the implementation of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) in the public service.

This is coming on the heels of the Academic Staff Union of Universities  (ASUU) insistence to embark on strike despite government’s backing down on its earlier decision to pay January salary via IPPIS platform.

A Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, on Monday declared the Federal Government’s plan to establish RUGA Settlement and cattle colonies in Benue State as unwarranted, unlawful and unconstitutional.

The court presided over by Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, while delivering judgement, said any move by the Federal Government to compulsorily acquire land for RUGA Settlement or cattle colony in Benue State without the approval of the Benue State government was null and void.

Senate Puts FG’s Borrowing Request At $22.6bn

The Chairman Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Adeola, has put the federal government’s external loan request before the National Assembly at $22.6 billion and not the $29.96 billion in public domain.

Adeola also said the external loan is tied to the completion of critical projects like the Second Niger Bridge, the East-West Road, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Mambila Power project and the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.
