Oyetola Releases ₦550m For Retirees’ Entitlements

The Osun State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has approved the immediate release of the sum of ₦500 million for the payment of the entitlements of retired workers enrolled under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The Head of Service of the state, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega, made this known in a statement issued yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital.

The statement said names of the beneficiary retirees were picked on merit, adding that the process was monitored by the executive committee of the retired workers’ group.

Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, has told members of Olubadan-in-Council that they lack royal etiquette based on the way they have been going around to allegedly insult the paramount ruler of Ibadanland.

This was contained in a letter, dated, February 5, 2020, by the Olubadan and addressed to his chiefs that include the Otun Olubadan, Lekan Balogun; Balogun of Ibadanland, Owolabi Olakulehin, that the Oyo State High Court has nullified their installations as kings.

N’Assembly Begins Consultation With Executive Over PIB

President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, wednesday disclosed that the National Assembly has commenced consultation with the executive arm of government on a new version of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) to be introduced in the ninth National Assembly.

Lawan disclosed this during a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) who paid a visit to his office at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Representatives on the IMF delegation at the meeting included Senior Resident Representative Mission Chief for Nigeria, Amine Mati; Jesmine Raman, Zainab Mangga, Nanrup Ibrahim, Osana Odonye, and Harrison Okafor.

Obaseki Govt Demolishes Oshiomhole Ex-Aide’s Hotel

The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led Edo Government on Wednesday, demolished T. Latifa Hotel belonging to Mr Tony Adun, also known as Kabaka, located at Ugbor area of Benin City.

Adun is a former aide of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

The government had stated that the property violated the building laws of the state and that it sits across a road in the Ugbor-Amagba axis of Oredo Local Government Area.

Special Adviser to Obaseki on Media, Crusoe Osagie, stated that deed of transfer being paraded by Adun was also not registered with the state government.

Group To Monitor Buhari’s Projects Floated In Enugu State

A socio-political group to monitor and promote projects of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in the South East has been inaugurated in Enugu state.

The PMB Solidarity Movement, according to its promoters, would also be established in the 17 Local Governments Areas of the state. Land Cannot Be Revoked Through Radio Announcement – Court

The Kogi State High Court of Justice have told the two defendants in a civil land matter, Kogi State Town Planning and Development Board and the State’s Ministry of Agriculture that revocation of land cannot be done through mere radio announcement without recourse to the owner of the land.

This was the judgement given by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, on Wednesday, in a land dispute, with suit number HCL/76/2013 which was instituted in 2013 by one Olorunfemi Mohammed against the two agencies and the Attorney-General of the state, who was the third defendant.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Imo state has condemned the recent fire outbreak that razed the INEC office in Orlu LGA of Imo state, describing it as a major characteristics associated with the All Progressives Congress.

Ex-Governor of Zamfara State, Abdullaziz Yari on Wednesday confirmed that he only honoured an invitation by the Police, but was never detained.

On 9 February over six million Cameroonians will be called to vote in twin legislative and municipal elections. Initially planned for 2018, the polls were postponed twice for organisational and financial reasons. Voting later this week will still take place under tenuous security and political conditions.
