The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Monday said despite the recent increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit to ₦162 per litre, the price of the commodity in Nigeria remained among the cheapest in Africa.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), says it will be “grossly irresponsible” to borrow to subsidise electricity tariff amid the economic crunch caused by the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seriake Dickson, former Bayelsa Governor, has emerged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District by-election.

The poll has been slated for October 31.

PDP Returning Officer, Nicholas Obhiseh, declared him winner on Saturday.

The primary election was held at Sagbama, party headquarters of the Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
