The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday presented Certificates of Returns to Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu.

Obaseki emerged winner of the governorship election held in Edo State on Saturday, polling 307,955 votes to defeat his contestant, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC, who got 223,619 votes.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has urged the Nigerian Navy to ensure that those who sabotage the government’s effort to eliminate bunkering are brought to justice.

The governor made the appeal when participants of the Naval Warfare College Course Four paid him a courtesy visit on Monday at Government House in Port Harcourt.

Wike said that bunkering, which affects the socio-economic development of the country negatively, should not be allowed to thrive.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday engaged the All Progressives Congress (APC) social media operators and influencers on hate speech bill.

He stated that the Federal Government is ready to support youths to influence the passage of the hate speech bill presently before the National Assembly.

About 100 APC media influencers participated at a virtual meeting held at the party’s national secretariat.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday sent early birthday greetings to Rochas Okorocha, former Imo Governor who will clock 58 years tomorrow, September 22, 2020.

The president, in a congratulatory message by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, lauded Okorocha for using his foundation to reach out to the poor and downtrodden in the society, building schools and health facilities, and providing scholarship for many.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose on Monday said he is pained by the death of his immediate elder sister.

Fayose’s elder sister, Mrs Moji Ladeji died on Monday after a brief illness.

The former governor broke the news of her death on his twitter handle.
